Il est important d'y mettre ordre au plus tôt.   Il se dit quelquefois Des personnes qui jouissent d'une certaine autorité, d'un grand crédit, d'une grande influence. C'est un homme important, un personnage important. Il a su se rendre important.

En toute affaire, l'important est de savoir ce qu'on veut.   Il se dit aussi d'Un homme vain qui cherche à donner aux autres et qui a souvent lui-même une opinion exagérée de sa qualité, de son mérite, de son crédit.
